Description:

Purpose of Mission: To educate, preserve and promote aviation and aerospace related subjects, materials and histories of timeless importance-featuring the people responsible for them - doing so in an interactive, hands-on manner that fosters both family and community learning.

**Description of Institution: Campus grounds offer seven buildings of air and space materials and artifacts, including an airpark, camp-in-the-woods, outdoor amphitheater & movie/stage theater, workshops, picnic food court, state-registered library, and fly-in aircraft display area.

**Key events promoted in 2010: Air Classics Museum of Air and Space celebrates its 20-Years Anniversary in 2010. The air field also celebrates the 100-Year Anniversary of the Wright Flyer's airplane debut at Aurora's Exposition Park and American's 1910 first Air Shows. Museum will offer new exhibits, speakers and workshops this year on aerospace exploration, women and minorities in aviation, and the global impact of technology. New library computer center debut.

**Developing highlight features: Sister Cities cross cultural e-learning program using the new Lights of Honor International E-cademy (LOHIE) web platform; new Camp-under-a-Wing weekend outings with amphitheater fireside story-telling and movie night at our East Shed Theater; new Aircraft-in-Airpark neighborhood show featuring: sound-&-light, 1st-person narrative of aircraft's history-mission lessons.

Hours:

10:00 am- 3:00 pm Saturday and Sunday; other days/times available by appointment. Extended hours/days Spring-Fall. Call ahead.

Intake Process:

PREFERRED: Call ahead of time before visiting museum / library, or to schedule a tour.

Program Fees:

Admission: Adults - $8.00, Seniors - $5.00, Children 6 and up - $5.00, Children under 6 - free with parent. Memberships are available for individuals, families and students, ranging from $15 to $45 per year.
