Public services include: **Public Works maintains streets, traffic lights & signs, manages sewers & water lines, etc. **City Clerk maintains all city records, receives applications for liquor licenses and voter registration for resident of both Kane and Cook Counties. **Code Administration enforces building, health, property, maintenance, zoning and development related codes and ordinances. ** Human Relations Commission receives and investigates charges of discrimination regarding employment, education, and housing. **Heritage Commission is a citizen advisory board that promotes Elgin's historic preservation activity. ** Around the Clock Info Line is the Human Resource Department's automated phone line for available part-time and full-time positions with the city. **Hemmens Cultural Center is the venue for art and music performances, exhibitions, rentals and is the home of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra.
