Maryville Crisis Nursery is a state licensed nursery, which is one of only six such facilities in the state of Illinois and the only one in Chicago. The purpose of the nursery is to provide a safe and nurturing place for children--newborn thru age six--during times of family crisis, emergencies, and/or to prevent a crisis. Families may use the crisis nursery for respite care or to help stabilize their family situation. Services can be accessed 24-hours a day. There is accommodation for up to 8 children at a time. Child Care workers have a knowledge base of early childhood and developmentally appropriate practices, and they have Bachelor's degrees. ** Spanish is spoken.

Intake Process:

A family can self-refer, or a social worker or a human service agency may refer a family for services.

They do not accept wards of the state. Each parent voluntarily accepts services for their children only, who are ages birth thru age 6 years. Services may be used up to 30 days in one year. Length of stay can range anywhere from 24 hours to 72 hours (3 days). A 24 hour minimum stay is required.
