American Red Cross of Greater Chicago Chapter serves Kane County through its Community Center in St. Charles. It is led by volunteers who provide assistance to those in need. Services provided are: --Armed Forces Emergency Services communicates emergency messages between military personnel and families who reside in our area; -- Biomedical Services - Blood Drives works diligently with hospitals across the country to supply lifesaving blood and tissue; -- Disaster Assistance responds to disasters such as hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, house fires, and other natural disasters, providing emergency items such as food, clothing, diapers, baby formula and prescription medications to families who have lost their homes and personal belongings due to a disaster. All disaster assistance is given free of charge. --Health and Safety offers a number of health and safety courses which range in topic from CPR and First Aid to Baby-sitter Training. Also an authorized reseller of the AED, call our chapter to learn how you can purchase this lifesaving device for your home or business; --International Services supports humanitarian relief including: tracing relatives separated during disasters or wars, educating the public about international humanitarian law, and more.
