Elgin Mental Health Center is a state psychiatric hospital, providing inpatient mental health treatment to adults. Admission is done through evaluation by the Ecker Center for Mental Health, which prescreens for the Elgin area. No alcohol/drug detoxification; some resources available if a chemical dependency is a secondary issue to a person with a mental illness. **No direct services provided at the 750 S. State Street location. Administrative office only. ** Services in English and Spanish. **For emergency situations, contact the Ecker Center emergency number (847) 888-2211, located at the Sherman Hospital Emergency Room at 1425 N. Randall Road in Elgin -- available 24 hours 7 days per week. **Within the Department of Human Services, Children are covered by the Metro Child and Adolescent Network at the Chicago Read MHC Annex, 4200 N Oak Park Ave (773) 794-4077
