Aurora Township Office administers the General Assistance Program which provides monthly financial assistance to persons who are not eligible for any other state or federal assistance program and who do not have adequate income or resources to provide for their own basic needs. General assistance is based on the number of people in the residence. Rent and utility funding is available. Emergency Assistance, a separate program, is financial assistance to alleviate a life threatening circumstance or meet an expense which is jeopardized by loss of employment. It is available only once in an twenty-four month period. It is limited to certain situations and/or certain income standards or eligibility. Transient Assistance may be available. Case managers can also refer residents to community services, which can also be found on the Township's website. ** Services are provided in English and Spanish.

Residents of Aurora Township. General Assistance is available to individuals 18 years and older who are not eligible for any other state or federal cash program like TANF or Social Security. There are other guidelines for assistance including income levels, household composition, etc.
